Ms. Stansbury led an engaging lesson with fifth graders on the famous soundtrack composer Koji Kondo. Koji is responsible for many video game compositions including the music for Zelda and Super Mario Brothers. Following a brief introduction to the composer, the students were able to play selections from the composer on the xylophone. The lesson concluded with an introduction to the Otamatone (オタマトーン Otamatōn). This device is an electronic musical instrument synthesizer. It was developed in Japan in 1998 by the CUBE toy company and the Maywa Denki design firm, led by the brothers Masamichi and Nobumichi Tosa.
Ms. Stansbury is committed to providing and fostering innovative engagement opportunities for students in her music classes. Her students are always thrilled to enter such an interactive, fun, and informative classroom! We love Ms. Stansbury!
