Maple Elementary Teachers Partner With The Fine Arts Association

The Partnership for Arts Programming connected the teachers with Darryl Lewis.
Mr. Lewis will be visiting the third grade classrooms at Maple Elementary School to work on songwriting and musical therapy all while focusing on PRIDE: perseverance, respect, integrity, determination, empathy! The students and teachers are very excited for Mr. Lewis! 

Mr. Lewis holds a Master’s Degree in Music Performance and an MFA in Acting. He was the winner of the 2011 Equity Actor of the Year and the 2012 1st Place Winner of the National Association of Teachers of Singers competition at Cleveland State University.  

His baritone voice has also been heard at the Chautauqua Opera, Michigan Opera, Rome Opera Festival in Rome, Italy, Bowling Green State University Opera Theater, Youngstown State University, Kent State University and the Solon Center for the Arts. He has been heard singing the National Anthem for the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Indians. He is a proud member of the Equity Actors Union.

Darryl Lewis is a singer, composer, playwright, actor and educator. He currently holds a position at Kent State University in the department of Pan African Studies.

He is also the Music Director at Aurora United Methodist Church and Artistic Director of the Aurora Children’s Theater. He has been on stage at Cleveland’s Playhouse Square, Oberlin College, Beck Center for the Arts, Rabbit Run Theater, Dobama Theater, Cassidy Theater, Karamu House, Geauga Lyric Theater and The Fine Arts Association.
